Handmade in my New York studio from three repurposed towels—one Disney Mickey Mouse towel and two coordinating towels—this completely one-of-a-kind jacket transforms existing textiles into a bold piece of wearable art.

Each part of the original towels was thoughtfully positioned to create the finished design: a graphic comic-style front, contrasting comic strip and yellow sleeves, character-print pockets and an oversized Mickey Mouse image across the back.

This jacket was carefully constructed with extensive bias-bound finishing. Most of the interior seams are individually wrapped in bias binding for a clean, durable finish, while red piping and binding frame the exterior edges and bring the different prints together.

About the materials

Because this jacket is made from repurposed textiles, the fabric may show subtle variations or small signs of its previous life. These characteristics are part of its upcycled story and make the finished garment truly one of a kind.

Care

Wash separately in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Reshape and air-dry for the longest life. Do not bleach.
